This article posted on MNT details on the superior benefits Type II diabetics received from brief bursts of high intensity training compared to lower intensity training. The findings were part of a study conducted by Paul Poirier, M.D., Ph.D. and Avinash Pandey at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada.
Of note, participants engaged in high intensity training "experienced a 2.3-fold greater improvement in HbA1c levels as well as a three-fold reduction in body mass index" as compared to the low intensity training groups.
At Science Fit, our training protocol incorporates high intensity principles and we have noted in our clients the same benefits mentioned in the study. Some clients have even been taken off all diabetes medications by their personal physician after experiencing the benefits of Science Fit training as well as embracing our dietary recommendations. One example is Science Fit client Mike Laws who is no longer on any diabetes medication. Way to go Mike!
